Burning of the Greens

Burning of the Greens

Sunday, Jan 6, 2019 - 5:00 P

PH

Epiphany is the end of Christmas, and an old tradition is to burn your decorative greens to symbolically say goodbye to the season. This year Epiphany is on Sunday January 6th.

Burning of the Greens UPDATE – LOCATION CHANGE: There has been a change of plans for the burning of the greens this coming Sunday. We were going to burn our Christmas trees at the Gardner’s farm, but with the incredible amount of rain we have received this will not be possible. What we are going to do is going to be almost as fun, but maybe just a bit less dramatic. We are going to meet at the parish house at 5:00 and we are going to burn a small branch from each of our trees or wreathes to mark the end of Christmas and to symbolize the light that lead the three kings to the Christ child. This event is laidback, and meant for the whole congregation. Feel free to bring your own snack or beverages, and join us for a good time!
