Pub(lic) Theology

Wednesday, Sep 8, 2021 - 6:00 P

Mountain Valley Brewing

Pub(lic) Theology meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Mountain Valley Brewing (4220 Mountain Valley Road, Axton). The first hour is social time - food is provided and the beer is good.

You can bring your own food if you like and water is available if you don't want beer. The second hour is devoted to the program - a presentation on a topic generally related to the church followed by an invariably lively and interesting open discussion.

This month's gathering will be on Wednesday, September 8. The topic will be one of particular interest to members of Christ Church - Rev. Phil Gresham's time as our rector and his involvement in the integration issues of the late 1950's and early 1960's.

Rev. Roy Pollina's excellent book on this topic will be a central part of the presentation as will the reminiscences of two very active members of Rev. Gresham's youth group - Sue Rosser and John Swezey. Other parishioners who remember Rev. Gresham plan to be there and to participate in the discussion as well. Regardless whether you recall those times or you would like to learn more of "how it was" in an important time in the history of our church, our community and our country, this promises to be a fascinating and enjoyable evening.
