Undercroft

On Wednesday, August 14 at 10:30 am in the Undercroft (attendees are welcome and encouraged to stick around for Eucharist in the Chapel at Noon), our topic will be Roman Holiday, reflecting on the Roman religious landscape and how emerging Christianity appeared to imperial authorities. There's no assigned 'homework,' but if you're interested in reflecting ahead of time, you might look at Acts 17:16-34 (considering how Paul preaches on the rare occasion where his audience is entirely Gentile with no knowledge of Judaism), as well as excerpts about the Great Fire in Rome from Tacitus (Annals XV:38-39, 42, 44) and Eusebius (History of the Church 2.XXV:1-5), both available from Fr. John.
