The giant water slide (the Big Dipper) will be open from 4 to 6 pm. Another party, The Blue Ridge Ski Club, will also be using the slide. It is $5 for as many rides as you like. No need to pay ahead of time or sign up. (It is really super fun and not just for children!)

Sign up TODAY for the Parish Life's sponsored Annual Christ Church Picnic at the Smith River Sports Complex, Sunday, August 26th. The event will be catered by Pigs-R-Us including BBQ pork, BBQ chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, rolls, lemonade and water. RSVP by Monday, August 20th.

If you are canoeing or kayaking down the river, please meet at the Sports Complex by the river at 2:00 pm (signs will direct you to the parking area). Those who wish will kayak down the river from the put in area near KFC to the complex (about a 2- 2 ½ hour float). Shuttle service will be provided between the sports complex and the put in at KFC.

If you are just picnicking and enjoying games, hiking the paw path, etc., arrive at the Sports Complex at 4:30 to 5:00 pm. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm.

Bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and bug spray. Lemonade and water will be provided. Please bring your choice of beverage along with a cooler and ice, if it is different.

Dinner cost is payable at the church office in person, by mail, or dropping it into the offering plate. Please write "PICNIC" in the memo line:

$10 per adult
$5 per child (12 years old & under)
Children under 5 eat free

Canoe rental: $40
Single kayak rental: $30
Tandem Kayak rental: $40

***ALL CANOE & KAYAK RENTERS MUST CONTACT BRIAN WILLIAMS TO RENT CANOES/KAYAKS AND TO MAKE PAYMENT. His contact information is as follows:

DIRECTIONS: The picnic will be down by the river access on the festival grounds. Please take the first left once you get to the complex and follow the gravel road. There will be signs directing people to the CEC picnic.
